Cargo Container Dwelling in Venice

Curbed LA writes about a mixed-use project being built in Venice with cargo containers.
This seems to be following a trend in architecture, where containers are re-used and recycled into dwellings. Here is a clip from the History Channel about Container City in London. Also mentioned in the video is the potential for containers to be used for relief work and refugee housing. According to my architect friend E, these work well only in certain climates, but their ability to be transported to set up in a short time-frame makes them a great option. Check out this Washington Post article on architect Sean Godsell's FutureShack for the dispaced.
Here is artist/architect Adam Kalkin's beautiful use of the container, folding out into a dwelling.
I would be curious to find out if this has been used in any of the recent natural disasters to provide housing?
